What we do:
The Mobile Scoop Shop is a Frozen dessert catering service. We hand-scoop Ice Cream and our own (Mita's) Italian Ice (sorbet like vegan dessert) in bowls, sugar cones, waffle cones, custom ice cream sandwiches, draft-style root beer floats and sundae topping bars.
As a private party caterer, our primary business is weddings and corporate parties. These types of events can be booked out weeks or months in advance. In between these bookings. Most of our booked events (weddings) run heavily on weekends (Saturdays), with most corporate events booked during the weekdays (lunches or afternoon/evening snacks) or on Sundays.
How we serve:
We have three types of equipment:, a Dodge ProMaster (high roof) we call Tux (as it has a tuxedo look), our latest service van a re-purposed fire rescue truck we call "Q", and mobile sidewalk cart(s). Staff will take equipment, unload, set up, serve guests during a designated time period, clean up, break down and return equipment. Most events require one or two staff people. Any "one staff service" must be handled by a staff person of driving age that is comfortable driving our vans or a car pulling a trailer.
Who our clients are:
Our clients are people and businesses that are looking for a professional way to be kids again, if even just for an ice cream moment. They remember how sharing ice cream has made them feel as kids, and are looking to treat their guests in a fun way that crosses all barriers. Ice cream is the universal language of childhood joy. How we interact:
We are hired to help make an event special. Smiles, light joking, friendly chat are all ways we achieve this. We want our interactions with the guests to leave them with a very positive feeling about their experience.
Our team:
Our staff are happy, dependable people who enjoy interacting with adults and kids alike. They are most prized asset, because we are not simply scooping ice cream, we are providing an experience.
About the job:
Our gigs typically run 3-6 hours (travel and service.)
Our pre-booked schedule is a living document and kept online in a Google Docs file. Staff sign up for the events they are available to do. We are very heavy on some weekends and light on others, so availability is important on those heavy weekends. We then fill in our local street vending availability based on our catering schedule.
Because our needs can vary based on when our bookings fall, our needs tend to fall into categories:
This is a fun job but requires dependable people. College students, teachers on summer breaks, parents with kids that just want a few extra $$ are encouraged to apply .

- PT Server (3+ x per month)
- Admin Staff (Mostly online, event prep and customer service, approx. 10-15 hrs per week off season. Onsite warehouse prep needed , 8-10 hrs, during our June-Sept season.)
